As a Sustainability Specialist in the Aluminium Metal sustainability team, you will lead our work towards customers and suppliers and drive our sustainability initiatives, working closely with various parts of the organization to implement strategies and drive improvements.

Your contribution:

Your main responsibility will be to support the whole organization with sustainability competence, with special focus on customers and supply chain. 

Key tasks will include:

  • Understand and communicate the sustainability challenges and opportunities in the aluminium industry and in the Hydro Aluminium value chain
  • Own and develop the systems, method and governance of our greener products portfolio. 
  • Cooperate with our partners to develop Life cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations for our products.
  • Participate in customer meetings and respond to sustainability related requests from external and internal stakeholders
  • Participate and contribute to academic and regulatory discussions that are important for setting the standard towards a greener aluminium industry
  • Maintain and contribute to our GHG accounting system, our basis for efficiently providing reliable information to any requests
  • Initiate and coordinate research projects together with academia

Qualifications we look for

  • Master’s degree in fields like industrial ecology, natural sciences, social sciences, or economics with a sustainability focus
  • Solid understanding of sustainability in metals and mining sector is an advantage
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Assessments and other similar tools
  • Experience working with International Sustainability Standards is an advantage
  • Fluency in English is required; Scandinavian language skills are a plus but not required
